What I'm wondering is if mg Of Vyvanse is too high or even a dangerous dose for someone who has been prescribed Adderall XR Varying doses for five years and seems to have built a concerning high tolerance to amphetamines.
Adderall and Vyvanse both contain amphetamines and work in a similar way to treat attention deficit hyperactive disorder ADHD in adults and children. Adderall is a mixture of four different kinds of amphetamine salts one of which is dextroamphetamine while Vyvanse only contains one salt, called lisdexamfetamine, which only gets converted into dexamphetamine once it is in the body.
Studies have shown that Vyvanse is just as effective as Adderall, and side effects are similar. One advantage of Vyvanse is that it may be less likely to be abused; however, there is no generic form available so it is more costly than generic forms of Adderall.
Risk of dependence coming to rely on the drug appears similar for both. The recommended starting dose of Vyvanse 30 mg once daily in the morning in patients ages 6 and above. Maximum Dexedrine dose is 60mg, so would not be surprised to see such a conversion depending on dose of Dexedrine or Adderall.
This is dead wrong and could also leave you dead. Read the official answer above from drugs. This would be according to the pharmaceutical company that produces it. And the Drs who prescribe it. As well as the pharmacological profile of Vyvanse. There are people prescribed 2 capsules due to the equivalent conversion.
Someone on mg Adderall or mg of Dexedrine would likely be scripted 2 capsules. Or at an equivalence of 2 Vyvanse capsules of other amphetamines. I would not even want to discuss Desoxyn with you. Vyvanse is preferable for those prone to addictive behavior by design. Some Drs prefer not to prescribe it due to the recommended max as is and stick to Dexedrine for patients needing higher doses since they can prescribe higher without concern of the FDA recommended max.
Your own doctor may prescribe a combo of medications with a moderate to major interaction as listed on here and the pharmacist be fine with such also. So would not recommend using a website as your lifeline here It is true that the recommended dosage is no more than 70mg a day. It is also true however, that each person processes drugs differently and also have varying tolerances to medication.I saw my doctor yesterday about my Vyvanse barely working even with dose adjustment and he said he has never had this happen or even heard of it.
So he prescribed me Concerta. It has been absolutely horrible, my focus is worse, hallucinations auditoryheadaches, etc. My doctor didn't want to prescribe me anything with an Amphetamine, he believes if one stops working, they all do. My question is if that's true, and that even though Vyvanse barely works for me now, would that mean things like Adderall wouldn't work either since both active ingredients are Lisdexamphetamine?
Type; That is what your doctor is saying, And you are not going to change that mind well have to talk to the doctor and find something else for you. Your Dr is a moron. Vyvanse is metabolized into similar amphetamine salts as those found in adderall.
As a matter of fact the premise of the advertising campaign geared towards Dr's was 'adderall for adults without all the side effects'. In my experience people become accustomed to vyvanse at a faster rate than adderall but this could also be due to the lesser side-effect profile. Im having the same issue. I have been on vyvanse for a good while but it seems not to be working anymore.
When I took adderal it seemed to work alot better and last longer. I dont know if my doctor will change me because she says vyvanse is a longer acting form of adderal. By the way can you sleep on vyvanse and eat a proper diet?
I found it easier to sleep while it still was in me, and it actually helped me with my diet since I overeat because of depression. Concerts is like Ritalin But adderal is the strongest one and has a high risk abuse level because you build up a resilience to it very quickly and before you know it your taking way to much and now are in trouble getting off.
My dr told me Once you have used adderal other things don't work So I would steer clear of add if you can. I know adderal is stronger Also it builds up a high tolerance rate quickly. It sounds like if vyvance worked at first and then stopped then you have reached your tolerance level meaning going up on dosage. It's true there are some people stay at the same dose for years but it's not what usually happens.
Well i will say yeah that's a little different because amphetamines are pretty strong they are called stimulants and most work some are strong then others u just have to find the one that best works for you.
To me adderall immediate release and extended release are by far the strongest in the market. The following information is NOT intended to endorse any particular medication. Compare all 53 medications used in the treatment of ADHD. I have become much happier and much more motivated in life.
I have always had trouble paying attention, would drift off, daydream, get stuck in my head. My grades in high school weren't bad, but they definitely could have been better if I didn't procrastinate and be lazy all of the time and keep putting things off.
Because of this, I suffered depression and lack of self esteem because I thought others were better or smarter than me. That being said, there is anxiety when the drug wears off and unfortunately, the effects of the drug itself don't last long for me, I'd say about 4 hours max. So I always have my days planned out in order to maximize my productivity. But I am in a much better place in my life now.

One more thing. This medication is not for everyone. You may not have the experience with it that I or others did. Find which med works for you.
At 20 mg it was great for my symptoms but only until about noon. Over a couple weeks I went to 30 mg and 40 mg. It was less helpful as I stepped up the dose and I started getting terrible headaches in the evening. I will be trying something else. I began taking 50 mg Vyvanse Augustand currently take the same amount. Over a span of about 2 years I lost 70 pounds and got into the best shape of my life.
I had great eating habits. I was sociable and doing great. I got everything done in a timely manner.
All the sudden, it stopped working 2. I gained over 30 lbs in about 3. All my hard work just disappeared. I suggest it for short term use but not long term.Log in Register. Search titles only.Daily Dose of Reddit - 50 Fantastic Fails - Epic r/fails & r/funny Posts!
I just wanted to ask, how long it seems to last for you guys, and want to get to some kind ballpark figure.
Kopparberg New Member. Ohyesuare said:. My own personal experience was that Vyvanse allowed me pretty good symptom control for a good nine hours. I was on 70 mg. After nine hoursthe effects usually were noticeably less. Eleven hours after administration, the effects were pretty much gone. BillDavid New Member. I have taken doses of up to mg, within a period of less than twelve hours, and had no difficulty.
It usually takes an hour after having taken it for it to kick in. I do not have a high tolerance to amphetamines. I don't take Vyvanse daily or weekly. Those who have never taken methamphetamine must always start off on as low a dose as possible, for the simple reason that each person reacts differently, and there is no way to know who will react how, without trying.
Vyvanse has worked way better than Adderall for me.
I have been able to loose weight thanks to Vyvanse. I usually have severe insomnia, and sweating spells. At times I get dry mouth too.The following information is NOT intended to endorse any particular medication. Let me be clear. I took one 25mg pill 6 hours ago and I'm so sleepy I can't see straight. I slept 7. Tried Adderall at many dosages, types and amount of times per day over a period of many years. My biggest issue. I forgot to take them. Tried Vyvanse. It helped but I got nauseous, dizzy every day.
Tried Adderall again and forgot to take them. One day my doctor mentioned Mydayis. WHILE talking to my doctor she legit wrote out the prescription, handed it to me. It was clear it helped at that point. My results with Mydayis are pretty good. No worries of forgetting it, which was the major factor in my switch.
I switched to this drug from Adderall IR 20's BID to the 37mg capsule, you don't really think your buzzing, but you indeed are, and more so than with Adderall for the same dose.
What prompted me to write this review was that I noticed someone else who reviewed this mentioned that they would be returning the bottle to the pharmacy because they didn't want insurance to think they were keeping it.
It works well, puts you in a different state of mind, and doesn't provide the sense well being of some other ADHD products offer, but it does work better than some generics. Perhaps give this a try if you're on generics that don't work. It is pretty strong, but doesn't feel like it. For a while Adderal helped. Then as I turned 49 it seemed to make me more anxious, irritable, short tempered, and I had No patience for stupidity!
Upon trying the Mydayis, I was immediately impressed. I was finishing projects. Getting things done right! Able to focus for longer durations of time. Long enough to complete tasks at hand.Vyvanse is a medication prescribed to manage ADHD and the compulsive behaviors associated with binge eating disorders 1.

The next week, she increased my dosage to 40mg and I stayed at that dosage until the end of october when i then went up to 60mg.
The jump from 40mg to 60mg seemed to do the trick, my focus and energy were amazing, i was making lists and starting to organize my life. Now I know I have a very high drug tolerance and with other drugs I have built up a resistance fairly quickly. When we increased my dosage to 60mg I expressed these concerns to my doctor since I was aware that the maximum recommended dosage is 70mg.
She advised me to not worry about that since it is only a recommendation and with my weight and drug metabolization we could possibly increase further if it got to that point. So here I am nearly one month later to the day and I feel like I'm backsliding. I'm struggling to focus and my agitation frequency and intensity has just risen dramatically. I'm sure that this is in part because of the holiday season approaching and partly because of the situational stress in my life but I also feel like I'm at my breaking point.
I have a 2 year old and when I reach these lows it's very hard for me to maintain my sanity in general, so throw a toddler and overbearing mother into the mix and the result is increasing panic attacks and overwhelming lethargy. My plan is to get into the doctor to discuss all this with her on Friday, I'm not trying to be a hero and try to fight it on my own. I also see two therapists, one for my panic disorder and also one whom is an ADD specialist.
So, my question is Have any of you had the same thing happen? How fast does your tolerance build up? And how do you recognize the signs and cope with it? I just need a sounding board with other people whom can relate. I'm the only person in my family who is treated for ADD and my familial relationships suffer because they can't relate to how I feel or why I am the way I am.
The first question everyone asks when I'm having a worse day is "did you take your pills today? That in turn makes me more angry and irate and makes it even more difficult to move forward into a good day. I'm an emotionally driven person and it makes me so sad that no one can understand and empathize with how much work it takes to make each day a good day. I just need a friend who I can talk to and who can try to understand without judging or criticizing, but as most of you know, making friends is hard.
Especially for an ADD person like me. Hello Zombievickers. I understand your delema.
